The water has gone from its surface, but the bridge remains closed, with severe disruption to traffic on the A71 and A72. Only traffic northbound from Lanark, which by-passes the two-bridge roundabout formation on the A72 Clydeside Road, can get through.
The council is also liaising with Scottish Water regarding estimated repair timescales.
