Ramblers take to the hills to celebrate John Muir’s legacy
A series of events took place recently to mark John Muir Day - which took place on April 19. The naturalist was instrumental in setting up National Parks across the United States.
Scottish Natural Heritage has joined forces with partners such as East Dunbartonshire Council to help people celebrate Muir’s love of the outdoors.

Hide AdThe East Dunbartonshire Countryside Ranger Service held an event on Sunday 19 April - leading locals on a thrilling walk along the John Muir Way, including Barhill, Croy Hill and the canal.
Councillor Alan Moir, convener of Development and Regeneration, said: “The annual celebrations of John Muir’s inspirational life and legacy are an ideal opportunity to extol the virtues of East Dunbartonshire’s wonderful scenery.”
