Traditional tee-off at Lanark Golf Club
Eight-handicapper Mark (41) struck the first shot watched by fellow club members. This was the only golfing action on the day as the traditional 18-hole competition for the Orchard Shield was cancelled due to waterlogging.
Mark, whose parents Ronnie and Marianne attended on the big day, said: “There was a big pressure hitting the opening tee shot, but it was a privilege to do it and it is also a privilege and a huge honour to be captain.”
Mark is actually coming to the end of his duties as Lanark GC captain as his replacement will be installed at the club’s AGM in March.
