A fond farewell to the Southside Fringe

There’s classical music tonight at Bungo Lo courtesy of Prismatic Winds (a group of students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland), a showcase of the best of Southside Sessions at Sweeney’s on the Park and Shawlands two-piece Tales of Jake heading up Heraghty’s.

Tomorrow, Brooklyn Cafe steps up to the plate for Family Day — an all-day event with crafts, facepainting and entertainment galore.

And for the adults, there’s drag fun at The Shed with Nancy Clench’s Southside Style!, as well as music galore across the Fringe venues.

Saturday’s line up may be a case of saving the best for last, with This is Not a Fashion Show (see p3) at Govanhill Baths and Fringe founder Corinna Currie’s own offering, Sarcassy Sneek’s Southside Shenanigans — an evening of burlesque, comedy and...fire worship?

The weekend is also a foodie dream, with Food and Drink Glasgow’s Pastaval — a mac and cheese fight taking place across the southside on Sat — and Locavore’s Creative Culture Canteen (Sun).

Cabaret duo the Creative Martyrs are seducing audiences with satirical sounds at The Sinister Wink — while the rest of the Fringe team tuck into a barbecue to the sound of the festival’s best bits over at the Grand Finale, taking place at Poloc Cricket Club.
