Alzheimer’s and aerial acrobatics

IT is a touching drama about an elderly Indian man with Alzheimer’s. It also features a trapeze and aerial acrobatics.

This bizarre-seeming combination is the heart and soul of Mind Walking, a touring play coming to Cumbernauld Theatre this weekend which has been met with critical acclaim including an Edinburgh Festival Fringe First award.

Written by Tanika Gupta MBE, the piece combines trapeze with character driven narrative to explore the unravelling mind of an old Indian man named Bobbie. Despite living in Britain most of his life, Bobbie suddenly starts using his first language, that he used as a boy in 1940s Bombay. Soon afterwards he begins disclosing terrible secrets that fundamentally impact on his family.

Theatre company BandBazi will perform at Cumbernauld Theatre on 29th October at 7:45pm. To book tickets - priced £9/£8, call 01236 732887 or visit www.cumbernauldtheatre.co.uk.
