Arts centre wins coveted design award

House for an Art Lover’s ARTPARK Centre for Arts and Heritage, has been recognised for outstanding architecture, planning and design in the built environment by the prestigious Civic Trust Awards Scheme.

Garry Sanderson, chief executive, House for an Art Lover, said: “Since opening last July, the ARTPARK has been a big hit with our visitors and the local community and we are thrilled to receive such a commendation.”
The sits next to House for an Art Lover and was created by Glasgow firm, ZM Architecture Ltd.

The Studio Pavilion features a gallery space which hosts exhibitions by up and coming and established artists and a dedicated studio space with a year-round education programme for children and adults. The Heritage Centre, housed in original stables and dovecote buildings, has been sensitively refurbished and turned into an educational and research centre to showcase the rich history of Bellahouston and its position in the ancient Parish of Govan.

Nick Blair of the firm ZM Architecture Ltd, said: “It was a real privilege designing and working on it and it’s great that our work is being recognised.”
ARTPARK received an award last year from Glasgow Institute of Architects (GIA) a chapter of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland..
