Brandon’s still going after 30 years

IN THOSE crazy, hedonistic days that was punk Britannia, the country was all torn Ts and zips.

But the hangover wasn’t so bad. Some fine bands came out in the post-punk era.

The likes of The Smiths, the Psychodelic Furs, Echo and the Bunnymen, Orange Juice and The Jesus and Mary Chain were all in the category of Born Too Late, in terms of joining the punk scene.

Add to that Spear of Destiny, a rock band created by Kirk Brandon, and you can see Britain was not without its post-punk talent.

Spear of Destiny got together officially in 1983, formed by Brandon and bassist Stan Stammers, from the ashes of Theatre of Hate.

Over the years there has been several changes to the line-up, most notably when co-founder, Stammers, left in 1986.

Now, Brandon’s going solo with a gig at Glasgow’s Pivo Pivo.

Tickets costs £6 for the gig on Tuesday, July 30.
