Celtic trio to boostrestoration fund

Under their stage name Caim, Jacynth Hamill from Belfast and Heather Innes, based in Stirling, are returning to the Church of the Holy Name for a special concert on May 31.

The duo staged a successful concert at the church in 2012 when Heather was living in Cumbernauld, and this time will be joined by Pauline Vallance, who’s a singer, clarsach (Celtic harp), player and flautist.

The three have a remarkable opus of work to perform, and for anyone who enjoys Celtic music this is arguably an event that shouldn’t be missed.

This means what was already a highly accomplished act has a new spin to its performance repertoire guaranted to ensure a remarkable local evening of high quality traditional music.

Jacynth and Heather have been singing, touring and recording together for 17 years and in that time have sung in many parts of the world including Australia, USA, Canada and Thailand.

As well as Irish and Scottish folk song they sing some of David Adam (former vicar of Lindisfarne)’s published prayers set to ancient Celtic airs, and have added a few songs from their own travels into their concerts.

The concert is at 7.30pm on Saturday, May 30, at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Name in Fleming Road, Seafar, Cumbernauld.

There will be light refreshments after the concert and tickets, priced £5, are available from Rev Moira Jamieson (tel01236 597633) or at the door – and all proceeds will go to the church building fund.

Jacynth and Heather will also be singing at 10.15 morning Eucharist on May 31 at the Church of the Holy Name, and will be giving a presentation in photos and song to the Mothers Union meeting on Wednesday June 3, about their experience in Thailand of singing to Karen Burmese refugee orphans.
