Choir on song at Royal Highland Show

CUMBERNAULD will be flying the flag for Scotland at the nation’s largest agricultural show - after a local choir received a groundbreaking invitation to contribute to its live music programme.

Sunday (June 24) will be one of the highlights of Cumbernauld Male Voice Choir’s programme after being approached to appear at the Royal Highland Show in Ingliston.

And in a move that could brand them best in show, the local music makers are the only non Welsh male voice choir to be taking part!

Secretary Elsa Barclay said: “The boys are very chuffed I have to say. We’ll be taking part in the morning service itself then later on in the day we will be putting on a programme in one of the bandstands

“We haven’t finalised what we’ll be singing as yet but I know that we will be including some really stirring numbers like Ave Maria and I believe - the sort of stuff that makes the hair on your neck stand up.

“It’s a real honour to be asked to take part and of course we are all really excited about it,” said Mrs Barclay.

The choir has had a very successful year so far - after recently staging a giant charity concert involving local schools Their Summer Seranade raised a whopping £1000 for the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust
