Glynis Wozniak met Steffi Rollo last year during auditions for a Christmas tour of care homes with Geez a Break Productions.

They spent a happy month on the road staging an upbeat comedy in which Steffi played an elderly lady.

The show is said to have been moving for residents as its familiar songs brought back happy memories, particularly for those who had dementia.

Glynis later approached Steffi with an idea for a new show.

Although Glynis wrote the script, it was in rehearsals with Steffi’s creative input that the characters came alive, and the show takes an interesting turn as this time it is Glynis who plays the ageing spinster.

Steffi, who hails from Lesmahagow, is a 2015 musical theatre graduate from New College Lanarkshire and performs regularly with an Abba and Dirty Dancing tribute acts.

Half-Ukrainian-and-half-Scottish Glynis, of Glespin, graduated with an honours degree in performance from the University of the West of Scotland in 2009 and recently played Mary Lincoln for television documentary First Ladies, to be shown in the US next year before making its way to our shores.

They are both signed with Van Rensburg Artist Management and look forward to working with each other again.

When I Was Young is billed as an innocent comedy for the young at heart, with songs from the 1940s and 1950s and lots of laughter in between. It is on at Crawfordjohn Hall on Friday at 7.30pm before going on tour.

Tickets, priced £8, are available at the door. The hour-long show is also available for care home performances. For bookings, contact Glynis on wozwazere@
