It’s time to grow for it – the Herald’s annual garden competition is well underway and people are being encouraged to nominate.

Entries have already started coming in from Kirkintilloch, Bishopbriggs, Milton of Campsie and Lennoxtown.

But don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time to enter.

Once again we’ve teamed up with the experts at Caulders Garden Centre – in Kirkintilloch – and Kirkintilloch Horticultural Society.

As in previous years, there are a host of great prizes up for grabs, with the winner scooping a £50 voucher to spend at Caulders.

The second place prize is a £30 voucher for Caulders and third prize is a £20 voucher.

Kirkintilloch Horticultural Society President Errol Burchell said: “In view of the beautiful weather we have been having, we are hopefully anticipating a large number of entries – surpassing the number we have received in previous years.

“We always see a number of high-standard gardens and I’m sure we will see many again this year.”

Caulders Garden Centre owner Colin Barrie said: “We’re delighted to be sponsoring the competition once again.

“Hopefully people’s gardens will be nice with the recent good weather.”

To enter the Herald Garden Competition 2013, see this week’s paper for the nomination form.

You can nominate your own garden, a neighbour’s, friend’s, family member’s or one that you think is particularly nice in your area.

Once all the entries have been received a judge will call round to look at the gardens before the final selection is made. The Herald will be featuring photographs of the garden entries.

The winners will receive their prizes at the Kirkintilloch Horticultural Society’s annual Flower Show on Saturday, September 7.
