Does Cumbernauldhave lots of talent?

Feeling brave? Looking to showcase your talent?

For the first year ever Friends of Cumbernauld Community Park, working in partnership with Cumbernauld College, will be hosting ‘Cumbernauld’s Got Talent’ where local people can audition their special skill in front of a panel of judges including Michelle McManus, Scotland’s famous Pop Idol and star of STV’s ‘‘The Hour’’.

The event is also being supported by the Westerwood Hotel where auditions will take place next month.

All funds raised by the event will go the locally based charity, the Scottish Spina Bifida Association.

This talent contest is yet another positive step for Cumbernauld and the Friends Group’s challenge to showcase Cumbernauld’s Community Park.

The idea was first brought to light when trying to decide the best way to get new and exciting talent to perform at the Fun in the Park day.

It is a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to get involved in their local community.

If your audition is successful, you will have the opportunity to appear on stage in the final which will be held at the annual Fun in the Park Day on Sunday, June 5, where the overall winner will then be announced.

Mike Ogden of Friends of Cumbernauld Community Park said: “We’ve overcome lots of challenges to get this event off the ground and now we look forward to finding Cumbernauld’s most talented.

“It’s going to be a great success and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has been involved so far!”

The group chose the Scottish Spina Bifida Association, whose head office is based in Cumbernauld, as their nominated charity for this event as they are the only charity dedicated to providing support, advice and advocacy to more than 3000 people in Scotland currently affected by spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus.

Every year, the charity needs to raise almost £1million and receives less than one per cent in Government funding.
