The fun kicked off yesterday — but fear not, because there’s plenty of theatre, music, dance, storytelling and more planned until the festival ends on July 6.

The family show is touring theatres, parks and baton relay events — which means that it’ll return to Eastwood ground on July 16 — but you can catch the full show first this very afternoon.

It’s a musical, interactive show drawing on memories of Glasgow, and specifically the east end, based on stories from the community.

The Pokey Hat offers a rose-tinted, entertaining insght into the way we used to live; childhood songs, games and sweets, the Italian community in Scotland and — inevitably — the significance of the good old fashioned ice cream van.

The show even has its own van, customised and poised to give out ice cream during the show, which is perhaps worth the trip alone.
