Festival KICs off with impressive line-up

THE Kilsyth Comedy Festival kicks-off on Wednesday, August 11, with an impressive line-up at The Coachman Hotel.

The International Stand Up! show will feature a number of top comedians from around the globe who will be taking time off from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to perform in Kilsyth.

Rob Kay, business director for the BIG KIC, said: "We're really very excited about launching what will be the area's first comedy festival.

We have a fantastic line up of acts to suit a range of tastes and budgets and can't wait to offer the Kilsyth folks some side splitting humour."

The KICS Kids Comedy Club, scheduled for August 12, will tickle the funny bones of youngsters aged eight to 12 years old.

Seasoned kids' comedians Graham Thomas, Viv Gee and Billy Kirkwood will take the mic from 2pm.

Later in the evening it's adults only for The Best of Scottish Comedy. Heading up the bill are Caledonian comedy veterans Vladimir McTavish and Susan Morrison with more of the best on the local circuit to be announced shortly.

The festival will go out with a bang as Fred MacAulay takes to the Big Top stage in Colzium Estate on August 13. Support will be from Stu Who?
