Giffnock Christmas event showcases Scottish talent

The festive cheer managed to fend off the bad weather for most of the day, with the Giffnock crowd showing their appreciation for a host of new musical acts.

Sweet vocals from Loxie, a three-piece girl group, shone on a number of covers including Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas — a Christmas classic which went down particularly well with the crowd. Tight harmonies and onstage chemistry were impressive, suggesting a promising future for the young girls.

Following an lively interlude from Dance Addiction, Able Faces took to the stage. Their folksy guitar pop energised the crowd as they performed a number of original songs and popular covers. Reminiscent of the Proclaimers, their original songs showed a similar ability to write a catchy chorus.

Track Fine by Me brought a summery feel to the event with its surf-pop guitar riffs and chanting choruses, while a cover of Taylor Swift’s Blank Space went down a treat with the young crowd, before they finished with an excellent, upbeat rendition of Walk the Moon’s Shut Up and Dance.

The final act of the day was Rewind, a boyband from Glasgow, who provided the biggest name of the evening with a growing fan base chanting their name.

With the haircuts to match, they are Glasgow’s very own One Direction, taking the classic moves and bringing them forward 20 years.

With some impressive pop anthems under their belt, they are sure to have won over many more fans after this performance.
