Cathcart man Graeme Pert, 56, is committing to the equivalent distance of one and half marathons every week throughout 2015, clocking up enough miles to total a staggering 2015.
Money raised will be shared between homeless charity Glasgow City Mission and Kids Club Kampala, a charity working in Uganda with disadvantaged children.
Graeme said: “This distance sounds daunting but by integrating it into my everyday life, I hope to achieve itI imagine the satisfaction of reaching Hogmanay 2015 with only a mile left to go!”
The monumental feat is being welcomed by charity bosses.

Meanwhile, women are being urged to get the New Year off to a great start by signing up to Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life 2015.
A spokeswoman said: “If you’re looking for an opportunity to get a little or a lot more active in 2015, this is the time to enter Race for Life.
“Taking part is not about being fit or fast and participants can choose to walk, jog, run or even dance around the course if they prefer.”
Last year, around 15,00 women took part and more than £928,000 was raised. The starting line is at Glasgow Green, Greendyke Street, on Sunday, May 10, at 9.30am.
