The Christmas Art and Craft Exhibition opened at the Auld Kirk Museum, in Kirkintilloch, earlier this month and is set to run until Saturday, December 21.

This year it features a guest artist with local links.

A museum spokesperson explained: “We are delighted to be featuring prints and paintings by guest artist, Willie Rodger RSA.

“Willie trained at Glasgow School of Art from 1948 to 1953, worked briefly in advertising then became a teacher, first at Lenzie Academy and then a Principal teacher of Art and Design at Clydebank High School.

“Although Willie is known as Scotland’s Master Printmaker, painting is also at the centre of his art, and we will be exhibiting a fine selection of his oil paintings complementing his original prints.”

Also on display will be a feast of wonderful craft work from both local and national craft makers.

Ranges include luxurious hand-woven scarves, hand-made brooches, and KCD jewellery who use Harris Tweed in their designs.

At the show launch Santa himself dropped by to give the museum’s Children’s Competition prizes.
