Jazz poetry in Cumbernauld

THE Words 2010 books and writing festival continues to bring exciting events to Cumbernauld.

Tomorrow night (Thursday), Cumbernauld Theatre will come alive to the sounds of Trio Verso from 7.45pm.

The group fuse award winning poetry, by Brian Johnstone, with improvised jazz music on saxes, bass clarinet and double bass by Richard Ingham and Louise Major.

The concept behind the performance is to interpret the ideas behind the 1950s poetry and jazz movement and present it to a twenty-first century audience. This method is said to bring an original approach to poetry, setting it in the context of music that is atmospheric, haunting and rhythmically entertaining.
