Katie Allen was awarded a £300 donation from the MARS Milk Fund.
She also competes in a wide range of cycling genres, from mountain biking to track, road to cyclo-cross. This summer at the British Mountain Bike Championships, she came fourth in the juvenile girls category and became Scottish Juvenile Mountain Bike Champion at the beginning of September.
Katie said: “I love every second I spend on the bike and next year hope to try out the new discipline of Enduro. In October, I will return to the Olympic course at Hadleigh Farm Essex where I will be part of the Scotland North Team again. We are hoping to defend our title as Youth Inter Regional Mountain Bike Champions! With this donation from the MARS Milk Fund I can now cover the costs of travelling to races across the UK and to buy the equipment I need for racing.”
A recent survey conducted by MARS Milk revealed that despite seven out of ten of us starting the week with intention of spending at least two hours on our favourite sport or hobby, cost and tiredness invariably put paid to these plans.
The MARS Milk Fund was set up to help individuals, clubs and groups to try something new or simply to spend more time playing their favourite sport or hobby. The MARS Milk Fund, runs until October 6, 2013 and has five £300 awards to donate each week.
