New venture for new towns’ music
Overspill Music, set up by Abronhill man Paul Dougan, aims to promote musicians from the Scottish ‘New Towns’. Its first event will be at the Classic Grand on Glasgow’s Jamaica Street, on March 17 (tickets £7).
Opening the gig will be Cumbernauld’s own The New Towns, an indie/psychedelic band making their first appearance at a Glasgow venue, while headliners are East Kilbride five-piece A Band Called Quinn, who recently appeared in the pilot episode of Scottish arts show One Creative Scotland. Supporting them on the night are Coatbridge indie rockers The Sneaky Russians.

Paul Dougan said: “I think there is a wealth of talent waiting to be unearthed from Scottish New Towns and I will try to give these artists exposure as well as celebrating the roots of the music and the towns these artists originate from.”
