New WI is not all cookies and booties
They came in their numbers bearing homemade cupcakes and handsewn lace baby booties to share recipes, patterns and gardening tips. Organiser Angela Tamburrini was delighted with the turnout but was keen to point out that her group will not be just about cupcakes and calendars.
She said: “Women’s Institute has moved on and we attract a great many young mums and mums who are looking to move on, get back to work or retrain.

Hide AdSo, as well as cooking and knitting patterns — knitting is really trending now among young women and men, too — we’ll be introducing sessions that concentrate on what appeals to the modern woman and yummy mummies alike.
“For example, I’m in the process of organising a visit from a recruitment consultant to do a workshop on writing CVs and giving a talk on getting past that first interview and onto the shortllist.”
