It’s the first joint venture from director Eve Nicol and producer Cat Tyre, who previously both worked at the National Theatre of Scotland.

The dark tale involves twins Presley and Haley Stray, who shut themselves away from the outside after the mysterious death of their parents, filling themselves up with confectionary and concocting stories about what has become of the world they left behind.

The explosive arrival of the sequinned and snakelike showman Cosmo Disney interrupts the Strays’ routine, and the lines between reality and their self-made house of horror begin to blur.

The action unfolds in real-time, veering from the humorous to the horrific often in the same breath. In this hyper-reality there are no breaks and there is no escape.

First staged in Glasgow at the Citizen’s Theatre in 1993, starring Helen Baxendale, then revived by Davey Anderson at The Arches in 2000, this latest version promises to entertain, shock and intrigue.
