Put on your red shoes and dance the blues at Eastwood Park

To keep the music and spirit of Bowie alive, The Best Of Bowie show presents a sincere token of remembrance as front man Charlie and his band of dedicated aficionados lovingly recreate a selection of Bowie favourites from throughout the years.

Their attention to detail, both musically and visually, is impeccable and has been about 12 years in the making.

“It’s something that I had been thinking about doing way back in the 90s,” Charlie, who takes on the role of Bowie, explained.

“This is before there was such a thing as tribute bands! I’m such a huge David Bowie fan and I’ve been told I sound like the man himself which is such a huge compliment – and makes doing the show a lot easier!

“I think it really is a big ask doing a tribute to Bowie, and one that you have to make sure that you get right, which hopefully we have done with The Best of Bowie.”

The show takes in a wide variety of Bowie songs from across the eras from Starman to the Thin White Duke and everything else in between.

“There’s such a huge selection of songs,” Charlie said. “Which is good, it means you aren’t scrambling around. We have about 50 songs that we chose from and we try and get as much of the fan’s favourites into the set as possible.

“So we have Ziggy stuff, Thin White Duke, songs from the 80s which I think was a bit more of a commercial time for Bowie.

“I often say that we can play a whole week of shows and not run out of material. We can have Ziggy on Monday, Thin White Duke on Tuesday, Berlin on the Wednesday...”

The show heads to Eastwood Park next month andCharlie shares the same sentiment as Bowie about Glasgow audiences.

“When Bowie was interviewed in ‘78, before he played Glasgow as part of the Heroes tour, he said that “Glasgow is exceptionally exciting to play” and I have to agree!” Charlie said.

“It’s a great city to play, and Eastwood Park is a great venue to launch theis theatre show. I’m really looking forward to it.”
