Put your January blues on ice

Roll up, roll up — the festive season may be over, but the sequins are still sparkling over at Braehead Arena.

It’s well worth a trip over to the Renfrewshire venue this week as the Continental Circus Berlin rolls into town — and onto the ice, no less, just to add another element to a few death-defying stunts.

Inspired by the popularity of Cirque Du Soleil and television shows such as Dancing on Ice, the troupe present a winter wonderland spectacular mixing traditional circus skills with performances on ice.

Expect mesmerising ice dancers, trapeze artists, contortionists as beautiful as they are bendy and comedy characters galore to bring on fits of giggles.

There are magicians and buffoons clowning around for the kids, while death-defying acrobats keep the adults gasping as they catapult across the ice with ease.

There’s even a daredevil in the mix — and one whose wife is more than handy with a crossbow (and an apple on the brave man’s head).

This large scale production claims its the first of its size in the UK for over 30 years — and with all those dazzling displays on offer, it might be an idea to head under the big top and see for yourself.

The Continental Circus Berlin is at Soar Intu Braehead from today (Thursday) until January 18.

Tickets are £7-£32, available from Ticketmaster on 0844 453 9009.
