Scullery skulduggeryin Pollok House game

Participants will travel back in time to experience life below stairs in Edwardian times – and will have to outwit Pollok’s devious butler.

With only 60 minutes to look for clues, solve a series of puzzles, complete challenges, save Pollok House and return to the present, players will have to emulate Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s best-known literary creation in their ingenuity.

The magnificent former stately home is reckoned to be the first visitor heritage site in the UK to offer this kind of entertainment.

It’s seen as an opportunity to have a bit of fun with a problem-solving entertainment which also allows the players to learn much more about how the world of Upstairs Downstairs or Downtown really worked.

For players the game will also be a memorable introduction to a landmark heritage property.

Pollok House property manager Karen Cornfield said: “Following the success of the Escape Rooms across the UK over the past few years, we have gone ahead and developed an engaging and gripping game that is set in a real-life environment.

“Escape the Past takes place in the room which was once the butler’s area below stairs, which really brings the game to life.

“It makes it stand out from others, which normally rely on invented scenarios and locations”.

She added: “The feedback we have received so far on the game has been remarkable. It’s a great opportunity to discover what Pollok House is all about and what life was like in an Edwardian country house.”
