Sessions album released for Clutha fund

AN ALBUM has been made to help the lord provost’s Clutha appeal fund.

Featuring, among other, the band that was playing on the night of the tragedy, Esperanza, those concerned with the production of the album hope that its sales will significantly add to the £220,000 that has so far been
raised.

The band is just one of seven groups to patricipate in the 10-track CD, which will be called The Clutha Sessions.

Already supermarket gian Asda has placed an order for 3,200 copies of the album.

The CD follows a hugely successful comedy gig on Sunday at the O2 Academy, hosted by Still Game star Ford Kiernan and starring the likes of Fred Macauley, Jane Godley, Stu Who and Des Clarke — to name a few.

Alan Crossan, the owner of the pub, said: “I am hugely moved, but not surprised to see these bands, all Clutha favourites, represent the spirit of Glasgow’s live music scene in this way.

“The tragedy has brought terrible sadness but it also illuminates a side of our town and its people in the most positive way imaginable. Only in Glasgow.”

Also playing on the album are The Vagabonds, Rose Room, Cahoots, Dr Cook and the Boners, Ernest and 3 Card Trick.

Bill Gaughan of NeonTetra Records said he hopes the album will add significantly to the cash raised so far.

You can buy the CD from Asda or any of the independent stores in Glasgow at a price of
£5.
