Sophie's winning card is a Christmas cracker

A primary school pupil from Lennoxtown has won Strathkelvin and Bearsden's MSP Rona Mackay's Christmas card competition.

Rona presented Sophie Tolland, a pupil at St Machan’s Primary School, with her winning design printed as a card, and also a gift, at the school’s Christmas show on Friday .

The P7’s design pictured a wintry scene with a house on top of a snowy hill, with Christmas decorations, and was picked by Rona as the best entry.

The SNP MSP also congratulated runners up, Leah in P2. and Emily in P6/7, when visiting the school.

She said: “I would like to thank all of the children who took part in the Christmas card competition – choosing the winning design was a very tough task.

However, Sophie’s lovely drawing stood out so much, as did Leah and Emily’s. The cards are printed and look absolutely fantastic.

“It was great to see the St Machan’s Primary School pupils singing at their Christmas show when I presented the card. I hope they, and all of Strathkelvin and Bearsden, have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.”
