Students take to the high seas

This year’s City of Glasgow College panto was a swashbuckling tale, with two East Ren students finding their sea legs.

Angus Fleck (18), from Eaglesham, played the title role of Sinbad, alongside Giffnock lad Gregor Mackay.

The cast of 20 HND acting and performance students took to Glasgow’s Tall Ship recently to impress festive audiences with an site-specific show.

Angus, a former Mearns Castle pupil, said: “It was really exciting coming onto the ship. I played Sinbad — so it was my ship!

“I’ve worked with my fellow students for months now, and really enjoy doing productions with these guys.”

Anne Macleod, acting and performance lecturer at City of Glasgow College, added: “The panto was a huge success.

“The Tall Ship was a great venue and seeing the faces of children who came on board to join Sinbad on his adventures was a reminder of the magic of pantomime and the fun and laughter it brings to audiences of all ages.”
