RSPB Scotland warden Stephen Owen said: “It’s been a very long winter, but spring is finally here, and we want to get as many people as possible outdoors and exploring. “Creepy crawlies will be the focus of a special guided walk, and those with a sharp eye will be able to spot some of the millipedes, spiders and other tiny creatures.”

Meanwhile birdwatching events include plenty of opportunities to see the reserve’s amazingly varied selection of avian reisdents and visitors. For more information about events at Baron’s Haugh (near Motherwell) visit www.rspb.orgh.uk/baronshaugh or email [email protected]
