The search is being organised by Scotland’s 22 Vets4Pets practices.

Adam Charleston, veterinary surgeon and owner at Vets4Pets Livingston, said: “We see so many wonderful pets across the 22 surgeries, it only seems right we offer them the chance to be the face of the brand.

“We’re delighted that National Trust for Scotland will be hosting the photo shoot for the winner at one of its iconic locations.

“The campaign is not just about beauty or good looks, we’re also looking for a background story on why a pet should become ‘Scotland’s Next Top Pet Model’.

“It could be a budgie that provides company for someone living on their own, a dog who saved someone’s life or a cat that has recovered from a serious illness or accident.

“All pets are eligible and we’re hoping to see entries from pets across Scotland.”

Each monthly winner will receive a £50 Pets at Home voucher, while the overall winner will be photographed for the next marketing campaign at a National Trust for Scotland venue and be given £150 in vouchers.

“This is a great opportunity for owners to show just how much their pet means to them,” added Adam.

“Pets provide support, company, friendship and so many more things to owners and this search is designed to reward pets for just being there for their owners.”

Owners can nominate their pet for the five monthly competitions by uploading an image and short story to their local Vets4Pets’ Facebook page.

In October, the five finalists will be subject to a public vote to find ‘Scotland’s Next Top Pet Model’.
