Time to put on the Warpaint

WELL, pop pickers, it’s not every band who can claim a Hollywood star as one of their former members.

But for LA band, Warpaint, that’s exactly the claim they can make.

For four years, between 2004 and 2008, Shannyn Sossamon provided vocals for the indie band before leaving to plough new pastures in Tinsel Town.

Parting can be such sweet sorrow, but the remaining girls don’t seem to have suffered much.

Formed in 2004, it took the girls a further three years to release their first EP, Exquisite Corpse, but it was worth the wait as it went to number one.

The first pressing was then followed in 2010 by an album, The Fool, and a cover version of David Bowie’s Ashes to Ashes for the tribute album, We Were So Turned On.

Studio-wise, the band have been remarkably silent with just the one EP and album to their credit.

Nevertheless, the NME have described them as “the best band you’ll see all year”.

Warpaint are playing the O2 ABC in Glasgow on Monday, October 28. Call the box office for tickets.
