Inbetween time, The Beatles created a body of work which lives on today, and is still sung by many.

Onesuch group which does not want to let the music be forgotten is the Bootleg Beatles.

Adam Hastings (Lennon), Andre Barreau (Harrison), Hugo Degenhardt (Starr) and Steve White (McCartney) constitute the current line up of the BB.

Typically, their gigs consist of songs from five parts of the original band’s career.

So whichever part of the diverse eight-year career of the Fab Four you favoured, you won’t be disappointed.

There have been a few tribute acts over the years to John, Paul, George and Ringo, but few have had the plaudits of the Bootleg Beatles.

Among the band’s credits are an invite to play at the Queen’s Golden Jubilee party at Buckingham Palace and Glastonbury.

They even recreated the famous rooftop gig at 3 Saville Row — the address of The Beatles Apple Corps record label.

Expect a smattering of all the old hits such as Love Me Do, I Want to Hold Your Hand, Please Please Me and Twist and Shout from the early days.

Midway you will probably hear Dr Robert, In My Life, Michelle and Drive My Car, while the last part of the show will be taken up by hits such as Back in the USSR, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Get Back and Helter Skelter.

Having begun way back in 1980, the musicians have obviously changed over the years.

But, at heart, an abiding love and respect for the original four Liverpudlian lads has provided a continuity that present-day fans can appreciate.

The Bootleg Beatles play Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall on December 10 and 11.
