Well done Cumbernauld Male Voice Choir

I attended the first night of their annual concerts and from the first notes in The Fishermen of England, to the final thrilling chords in One Day More, they were superb.

Murdie Fletcher, an engaging and entertaining compere, linked the concert with easy charm. Aileen Kelly played with great assurance and consummate ease. John Seggie drew beautiful, sensitive singing from the choir, and, as ever, the diction was outstanding.

I particularly enjoyed Ave Maria, I Believe, superb balance between the parts. Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, quiet passages beautifully controlled. Anthem from Chess, excellent contrasts, and One Day More, thrilling climax.

The guests this year Barluath, a Scottish Music band made up of five students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland also delighted the audience. Singer Ainsley Hamill was outstanding in the beautiful Gaelic song in the second half of their performance.

They gained a number of new fans this week and I am certain their new CD which is out soon will be very popular.
