Let the kids, and their imaginations, run wild this summer with East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure’s packed holiday programme.Explore your superpowers and join forces at Superhero Training Academy, get crafty with cavemen and dinosaurs by taking part in the Time Traveller Camp and fit in some fin-tastic classes and learn to swim like a mermaid! Harry Benson: From Glasgow to America brings together photographs from the world renowned photographer’s native Glasgow alongside images created during an illustrious career in America. At Pollok House. Runs until December.

Crossmylaff Comedy

Having a Laff Comedy presents... Saturday night stand-up comedy at The Glad Cafe, featuring a packed bill of the best in current Scottish comedy including Ed Patrick, Gary Meikle and a full roster of new comics David Callaghan, Oliver Coleman and Sarah-Jane Judge. From 7.30pm.

Little Shop of Horrors

Join Webster Productions in this charming, kooky and hilarious musical cult classic. With music by the legendary Alan Menken, best known for his numerous Walt Disney film scores, Little Shop of Horrors is a cult film and one of the longest running off-Broadway shows of all time. At Eastwood Park Theatre at 7.30pm.

Festival of Colour

The East Renfrewshire Festival of Colour returns to Rouken Glen Park – come along and join the fun! Family Fun, face painting, henna hand painting, hand art, colour water sponge throwing. Bring along a picnic. This festival will take place in the events area near the pond. A bagpiper will lead from the children’s play area to the events area at 2.15pm.

Whitelee Windfarm is holding a great range of free family activities every weekend during their open season. Free events include Animal Masks, Bird Masks, Bug Me!, Can you dig it?, Crafty Windmills, Creepy Crawly Climbers, Dragonflies and Damselflies, Magical Magnets, Mucky Monsters, Pinwheel Windmills, Recycled Bird Feeders, Turbine Tower Challenge, Wacky Weather Watching and much more. Also on Sunday.

Summer concert

Featuring music from the Conservatoire and Glasgow. From 7pm at Williamwood Parish Church. Entry by donation. Refreshments served in the large hall after the concert. Also on August 26.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 1

Sporting Heritage

In August, Glasgow will co-host the inaugural European Championships (Glasgow2018). Around 4,500 athletes will descend on the city to compete in this multi-sport event which includes aquatics, cycling, gymnastics, rowing, triathlon and golf. Glasgow is no slouch when it comes to sport, and our sporting heritage runs deep. Ingrid Shearer, from Northlight Heritage, will tell us more about the city’s historic sporting grounds, buildings and sportscapes. Meet at Glasgow City Heritage Trust, Bell Street. From 6-8pm.

Edinburgh native and smooth jazz operator Lorna Reid and Glasgow roots and bluesman John Alexander have joined forces to form their roots, blues jazz and country tinged duo Rain Reserve.
