JOIN the Rangers and get involved in the Big Butterfly Count to help them record our winged visitors, whilst brushing up on your ID skills. From 1pm - 3pm. EVER wondered about the immense store of artefacts that reside in the vaults of museams unseen for, sometimes, a generation or more? BOOKBUG baby and toddler sessions at Barrhead Fundry. Bookbug sessions Introduce music to the very young using simple rhymes, songs and games. SATURDAY, JULY 25

MERCHANT City Festival runs until Sunday, August 1, and promises nine days of street theatre, music, dance and walking tours including ‘Eats ‘n’ Beats” - a musical walking tour that sounds as good as it tastes; a new work in street performance that involves performers interacting with three JCBs. Plus a great kids programme.

ANOTHER festival billed for a daylong programme from noon-8pm is the Dear Green Festival centring on Queen’s Park that allows visitors to get up close and personal with the area’s wildlife, large and tiny, the plants that attract butterflies, birds and bees, their habitats, waterways and housebuilding skills.

SUNDAY, JULY 26

AT THE CCA, the Development Circle is a group for exploring extra-sensory practices, subjectivity and power in a genuine, sensitive and experimental way aiming to investigate how we might wield our extra-senses, not only in a personal context, but in a social and political one also. MONDAY, JULY 27

STAGE to Page is a voluntary collective of writers, directors and actors who meet monthly to conduct short public workshops of scenes from brand new plays. This lively exploration of new writing is an opportunity for writers to be actively involved in an exciting, short workshop process, hear their work being read and get feedback from directors, actors and audiences. 7pm £3 on the door. Age 16+.

TUESDAY, JULY 28

ANOTHER GFT offering that may jog some musical memories. This fourth film from Mia Hansen-Løve (Goodbye First Love) offers a look into the burgeoning French ‘Touch’ electronic dance music (EDM) scene in 1990s Paris. Based on the experiences of the director’s brother, the narrative revolves around a young DJ named Paul as he indulges in drugs, drink and sex to the sounds of beats and bass.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 29

WORTH taking a trip across to the West End, the Juggling Club meets from 7.30-9.30pm at the scout hall on Kelbourne St. The £2 fee (£1 for under 16s) is well worth it just for the sheer tharapeutic value of chucking things in the air. Mind you the organisers do say: “We’re not all about chucking stuff in the air.”

DO YOU know your oak from your ash? Rouken Glen is historically famous for its diverse range of tree species and its park rangers have all the gen on all of them, how to date them, where they originated from and how to identify one from another. THURSDAY, JULY 30

THE Pollok House paintings have been cursed and fading away by a witch’s dark spell. Help us uncover the Witch’s Secret and stop the terrible curse. Parents and children work together with help from the servants to find the answers to the clues in order to uncover the Witch’s Secret. Free. 10am-1pm.

WORLD premiere of the first Live Brain-Computer Cinema Performance with Anastasia Katsinavaki and Minas Borboudakis. Polina Zioga and the Digital Design Studio (DDS) of the Glasgow School of Art present ’Enheduanna – A Manifesto of Falling’, a new innovative performance with actress Anastasia Katsinavaki, and composer Minas Borboudakis. CCA. 8pm. £7.40 (£4.40) + 60p fee.
