Window to the Past: Eastwood Registration Office, 1928

This is 69 King Street which became 2 Harriet Street after the 1932 street renaming as there was also a King Street in Glasgow.

Thomas E. Smith house decorator later occupied the premises.

Up to c1950 all districts around the city had these offices where births, marriages and deaths had to be registered. Around that date a new office in Martha Street replaced them.
