Young Cumbernauld cyclists on a roll

OVER the last few months children at Little Treasures Nursery have been showing great confidence in their use of balance bikes.

Therefore, a greater challenge was required. The children recently took part in cycle proficiency lessons through Cycle Scotland Outdoor Trax.

Eddie McGhee, a qualified cycle trainer, attended the nursery every week to teach the children the importance of cycle safety.

A ceremony was held on Friday, June 24 to celebrate the children’s big achievement. Local MP Greg McClymont handed out certificates and badges to all children who participated in the scheme.

The nursery continuously encourages the children to develop their health and wellbeing. To support this development the children have been actively involved in cycle proficiency, modern and street dance lessons and forest school experiences to name a few.

A member of staff has also completed training to teach cycling proficiency to the children thus allowing a greater number of children to learn this new skill.

All this hard work led to the nursery achieving their first eco flag status on May 10 this year.
