Free things to do in Glasgow can be hard to come by - that's why today we've put together this list of the 8 best things to do for free in Glasgow this month (May 2025) whether you're by yourself, with friends, or with family.
The great thing about Glasgow is that there's so much going on all the time - the bad thing is, that if you love going out as much as we do, you'll be hard-pressed to find the cash for these events. That being said, another great thing about Glasgow is that we're a community driven city, there's always somewhere to go, even if you're skint.
You will have the option to spend money if you wish at some of these events while others are absolutely free.

1. Belter Bubbles - The Giant Riverside Museum Bubble Event
Prepare for an unforgettable afternoon full of wonder and laughter. Fabulous bubble displays will create enormous bubbles floating and sparkling in the sunlight, and cascades of mini bubbles, creating a magical atmosphere. Experience the childlike thrill of catching bubbles before they pop, and witness 'Kid in a Bubble', the incredible moment a child is completely surrounded by a huge shimmering bubble! A drop-in afternoon of fun for everyone. Whether you're 5 or 95, this magical event will leave you bubbling with joy. The event takes place on Sunday 18 May 2025 as is free to attend with no ticket required. | Glasgow Life

2. Kelvin Hall's Hidden Histories
Join The National Library of Scotland at Kelvin Hall on a time travelling tour of Glasgow's Kelvin Hall starting in 1925. It has been 100 years since the original Kelvin Hall was destroyed by fire. Join them for an evening of surprising stories exploring what has happened in this beloved building since then. The event is free but ticketed and will take place on Wednesday 14 May.
