Standing at 990 sq m of retail space with a more customer-focused layout, the transformation is part of Aldi’s Project Fresh initiative.

This £300m investment has been going on since 2018 and aims to improve stores and services across the UK, based on feedback from more than 50,000 customers.

The Mason Street store offers increased space with wider aisles and clearer signage.

Fresh bread and cakes have been moved to the last aisle preventing them getting squashed under customers’ shopping; there are new, easy to browse freezers; and an improved Food to Go section.

Also on offer are Scottish meat and fish, Lacura health and beauty products, Scottish craft beers, wines and spirits, Mamia babycare products, while Aldi’s famous Specialbuys will be available every Thursday and Sunday.

The store currently employs 23 people, and the refurbishment will create additional job opportunities.

Store manager Sean McCready said: “The store is looking fantastic, and we can’t wait to welcome our loyal customers back so they can see it for themselves.

“We’re committed to making sure that the shopping experience each customer enjoys in our store is on a par with the products and services they’re used to.

“Customers will notice a few small changes throughout the store to further align with social distancing guidelines, ensuring we keep our community safe, and we thank you for the co-operation in ensuring the safety of both our colleagues and customers”.

During opening week, Aldi’s big pet event is back, offering a wide range of pet goodies, including blankets for £7.99, towels for £3.99 and a cordless grooming kits for £19.99.
