RBS has advised that customers will be able to use the Post Office as if it were an RBS branch; they will be able to withdraw cash using their debit cards, pay bills and check balances and also be able to deposit cash and cheques.

Businesses will also be able to access these services.

RBS also plan to lift ATM restrictions to allow basic bank holders to access the machines of other banks and RBS will allocate a mobile van route to include the Kirkmuirhill area.

Michael said: “The bank has provided more details about how they intend to compensate customers for the loss of direct RBS services in the Kirkmuirhill area.

“However, despite the assurances it will inevitably be a second rate service compared to having a bespoke RBS branch.”
