Businesses vote in favour of Carluke BID

CARLUKE businesses have voted in favour of establishing a Business Improvement District in the town.

The count was held at Carluke Lifestyles Centre with BID representatives closely watching as it was administered by council chief executive Lindsay Freeland and deputy returning officer Aileen Knudsen.

The result was decisive with 72 per cent of the ballots returned in favour of setting up the BID.

Project Leader Chris Parkin said: “I am absolutely delighted that businesses in Carluke have decided to grasp this opportunity to move forward in a positive way.

“It was apparent during the consultation that there were a number of common issues for both businesses and the customers and clients they depend on.

“We are very happy that the businesses have chosen to work together, to pool their resources and to build business-led partnerships which can make a significant impact in Carluke over the five year life of the Hometown Carluke BID.”
