Local Government and Planning Minister Derek Mackay was delighted to discover that more than 70 per cent of local businesses had given their backing to the Hometown Carluke BID which is set to be operational from the start of October.

Derek said: “The positive ballot result for the Hometown Carluke BID shows local support and enthusiasm for working together to maximise opportunities for further promotion of what the town has to offer.

“I look forward to hearing about the projects and activities the BID will deliver.”

A meeting of the BID Steering Group will take place later this week with the aim of forming the official BID company.

BID Project Leader Chris Parkin said that an ideal pool of people would be between 10 and 12 business owners or employees alongside one part time BID staff member.
