Cash boost for Glasgow Southside’s The Wee Retreat
The group, based in Glasgow’s Southside, will use the cash to run an online mindfulness course for parents struggling during these challenging times.
Parents who might otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in mindfulness and meditation practice. But who can gain so much from focusing on their needs and making time for self-care.

Hide AdThe Wee Retreat CIC was established in 2016 by Vicky Kakos with a mission to create a culture where self-care is as typical as brushing your teeth, educating people on the importance of and reducing stigma and barriers to self-care.
The Wee Retreat runs face-to-face and online sessions in meditation, yoga and pilates from their southside retreat. Helping increase personal awareness and a sense of peace.
Vicky Kakos founder of The Wee Retreat, says: “We’re delighted that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work in this way. Now, thanks to National Lottery players we will be able to offer our Mindful Parenting course to parents who might not have been able to use mindfulness to support their wellbeing. This is important because it offers space for people to sit with their challenges and find a way to persevere.”
A previous participant of the course comments: “This course will provide you with the tools to slow your thinking down and cope with issues in a mindful way.”
