Change of hours for Kirky pub approved

East Dunbartonshire Licensing Board has allowed a Kirkintilloch pub to change its opening hours.

The Chase Inn, which is owned by Green King, applied to change its trading hours on Saturday from 11.45pm on Saturday until 1am on Sunday morning while also opening earlier on Sundays, at 11am instead of 12.30pm.

Despite an objection from East Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership on the grounds that the area is overprovided by alcohol retailers, the board agreed that this particular premises was not linked to any trouble and noted that the off sales element in the licence would not result in many sales as the pub is situated ten yards away from a Co-Op where off sales are considerably cheaper.

The requested hours are also in keeping with East Dunbartonshire’s current licensing policy.

The board agreed  unanimously to grant the request.
