Cumbernauld man breaks work deadlock

A Cumbernauld Village man who was unemployed for a decade has finally secured a key worker role at Strathclyde University, thanks to some specialist help.

Bobby Moore (59) has admitted that his social anxiety was holding him back but employment with Remploy changed all that and led him to a new job as a security warden on campus.

Bobby said: “I was feeling isolated and alone, it seemed like finding work was a world away. I contacted Remploy and they have supported me immensely.”

It was suggested that Bobby opt for a fire marshall course via Remploy’s’ Transforming Lives Community and he decided to give it a go.

He explained: “Remploy has access to a varied range of different partners who can support with providing courses and I was really interested in this one. It also gave me an ideal opportunity to update my CV.

“Before, I had no routine. I didn’t know what it was like to work as it had been so long but, with Remploy’s support, they assured me that I was capable of finding a job.

“I always wanted to work but just needed that extra push. I was supported with an application for a security role and was delighted to find out I was successful.”
