Edinburgh Woollen Mill to close at New Lanark

A TWENTY year relationship between New Lanark and one of Scotland’s best known clothing brands appears to be ending in rancour.

Still open...but Edinburgh Woollen Mill will soon be leaving New Lanark

Edinburgh Woollen Mill has operated from New Lanark’s Mill Two since 1994.

But it is to close in May after the Trust running the village decided not to renew the company’s lease.

Around seven employees currently work there.

The Trust will take over much of the vacated shop space itself to relocate and expand its own Gift and Book Shop operation with the remainder going to “other retailers” with which it is currently in negotiation.
