North Lanarkshire Council is developing a new planning policy approach which aims to support jobs while fostering sustainable economic growth.

It is asking local firms to complete an online survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/northlanarkshirebusiness, and has also organised interactive workshop sessions.

The survey asks just three questions, around the central issue of what would improve business conditions in the area.

Planning convener Councillor James Coyle said: “We want to make North Lanarkshire a better place for business and industry, and to do that we need to understand the needs and aspirations of local businesses.

“To develop a positive and practical planning policy, we need to balance various issues, including the demand for new housing, along with education provision, transport and local services, the need for suitable business premises and opportunities to attract investment and jobs, alongside the sustainable management of our environment.”
