Glasgow parents encouraged to bring their child to work – while at home

Tomorrow (Thursday, April 23) is ‘National Bring Your Child to Work Day’ – but despite many of us working from home, parents in the Glasgow area are still being encouraged to take part.

As parents and guardians juggle working from home and home schooling, those who are able to are being encouraged to combine the two and take part in ‘Bring your Child to Work Day’ from home.

Following on from the national award-winning #NoWrongPath campaign, Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Glasgow is asking for those working from home to involve youngsters with their new work routine, to inspire and raise awareness of the world of work.

DYW Glasgow is asking people to post a photograph of themselves with their children working from home on social media tomorrow (Thursday, April 23) using the hashtag #DYWChildtoWork and tagging @DYWglasgow.

For those not on social media but who wish to take part, they can send their photo by email to [email protected] where it will be shared on the DYW Glasgow social channels on their behalf.

Alison McRae, Senior Director of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said: “Those with childcare responsibilities are currently working to find a balance between delivering their role and supporting the young people in their homes, trying to split their time between working from home and caring for young people.

“The #DYWChildtoWork national campaign allows the opportunity for engaging those young people in the world of work in a slightly different way given these unprecedented circumstances.

“We hope that #DYWChildtoWork will inspire and motivate the young people of Glasgow to consider what their next steps will be whether in the workforce, further or higher education or otherwise.

“We are looking forward to seeing a wide range of our businesses get involved and can’t wait to see them contributing online, allowing us to showcase and inspire the variety of careers on offer within the city.”
