Have your say online over Motherwell industrial estate upgrade

A consultation process has just been launched in move which could give an industrial estate in Motherwell an ambitious upgrade.

North Lanarkshire Council and its property wing is seeking Scottish Government funding towards the refurbishment and renewal of the Braidhurst-based amenity.

The proposals could also enable light industry start-up style businesses to come on board at this central location which is already a nerve centre for a number of successful Motherwell-based firms.

A council spokesman revealed: “If successful, we plan to construct new start-up business units on a parcel of vacant and derelict land within the Braidhurst Industrial Estate as well as various other improvements to the existing estate.

“These will include the construction of a new car park for both employees and visitors, improvements to the entrance of the estate with new signage.

“The plans will also include the renewal of lighting, the resurfacing of Newhut Road and the clearing of drains which will then be repaired

“We would propose to make improvements to the soft landscaping to reduce the litter problem - and cut back the overhanging trees to widen the road.”
