Louise, who works at LUX Makeup & Nail Bar on Clarkston Road in Netherlee, won the coveted title at this year’s Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards.

Louise, who has been in the industry for around 9 years, first studied at Clydebank College before travelling across the pond to hone her craft in Los Angeles.

After working for the likes of Mac and Giorgio Armani, Louise left retail to carve out a career for herself as a freelance make up artist.

She said: “It was about two years I went freelance. I do bridal make up, about three or four a week, as well as evening looks and just about every kind of make up you could think of. More people get their make up for occasions nowadays!”

Louise was on her way to Paris when she found out that she had won.

“I was working there with a bride and didn’t give the awards much thought and had forgotten about them. Then everybody was phoning me telling me I had won and asking where I was! It’s great to win and I’m so delighted. The clients vote for you after you enter and a panel of judges then look at your portfolio and decide a winner. I’m very happy and surprised I won.”

It was Louise’s very proud grandfather who got in touch with The Extra to let us know of her success.

“She added: I think my grandfather is the proudest man in the world!”
